On the evening of Sunday 21st June, NSSC Secretary sent out an email to all clubs in response to the statement from the ECB on Friday 19th June.
Two weeks ago ECB published their 5 Step Roadmap highlighting that currently the game is in Step 3 of its return. The ECB will continue to work with and be led by UK Government advice, only advising clubs move into step 4 when the Government allows and when it is deemed medically safe to do so.
In preparation for further ECB announcements, Competition organisers across Counties and Leagues are encouraged to begin considering how they will respond when the ECB advises that we are able to move into Step 4 and whether local competitions are feasible.
In response to the above, the NSSC League have now asked all clubs, if not already doing so, to begin to maintain their grounds in preparation for a return to cricket.
Our League Grounds and Facilities team have recently visited the grounds and have informed clubs of any work needed ahead of cricket commencing. We are keen for cricket to commence as soon as Government lock-down measures allow and although we have no knowledge of dates yet, we would like our clubs to be in a position to start as soon as it become practicably possible. - Sue McGarry
If you have being keeping up to date with the latest Leek Cricket Club newsletters, you will know that our grounds staff have been keeping Highfield in a very good condition. Former Leek CC, Derbyshire & England player Kim Barnett has recently commented that the grounds look "brilliant".
We're very excited by this news and hope we can return in the near future when government advise allows it. As always, we will keep you updated via our website and social media feeds.
