Today Leek Cricket Club and Leek United Building Society are proud to announce the extension of their partnership to support the Cricket Club's junior section.
We're incredibly proud to announce the extension of our partnership with Leek United. The Building Society have been a partner of Leek Cricket Club for a number of years and their sponsorships have gone towards funding our Junior Section once again. They have provided £2,000 to help support our coaching sessions.
We hold weekly training sessions each weekend for players aged from 5 to 14, with additional development coaching for those aged 15 or over.
Over the years, Leek Cricket Club has produced some of the finest Cricketers in Staffordshire, from Tim Tweats, to Alex Mellor and Alex Thomson. This sponsorship will help find the next generation of talent.
Leek United chief executive, Andrew Healy, said:
“At Leek United, we’re committed to giving back to the communities we serve. We’ve been supporting Leek Cricket Club for a number of years and during that time, we’ve admired the club’s great work with children from the Leek area. While we hope some will go on to achieve great things in the game, far and away the most important thing for us is the social and developmental benefits these young boys and girls get from taking part. It gives us great pride to continue to play a small part in supporting this development.”
Brian Mellor, Leek Cricket Club Chairman also had this to say:
“We’ve built a strong partnership with Leek United over the years, and their support has been crucial in helping us run our thriving junior section for several years. With so much uncertainty around, it’s reassuring to know we can depend on their support, without which we just couldn’t provide the coaching and facilities that we do for young people throughout Leek.”
We look forward to being able to welcome more Juniors to our teams next year thanks to the sponsorship. If you would like to become a member of Leek Cricket Club, get in contact with us today.
