Leek youngster Rory Haydon returns to the Club having had a season at Kenilworth Wardens in the Birmingham league, whilst also being part of the Warwickshire County Cricket Club academy.
Club Captain, Alex Mellor says he is “buzzing to get Rory back to his home club. He’s an exciting cricketer with the ability to bowl quick and counterattack sides with the bat. The energy and standards which he’ll bring in the field alongside his recent experiences in a first-class environment will allow us to move forward as a team and club.
Rory has played for Leek Cricket Club since 2013 from the age of 11 and has played almost 200 games for the club. He scored his first 50 aged 16, and first 100 aged 18, both for the Development XI.
We caught up with Rory and he said “I’m delighted to re-join my home club for the 2024 season. Having spoken with the captain Alex Mellor, it’s an exciting time. I am eager to get stuck in with the lads and help contribute to the team with bat and ball.”
We’re immensely proud of what Rory has achieved so far in his cricketing journey and we cannot wait to see him progress during the next two seasons back at Highfield.
